Mayo

O body swayed to music, O brightening glance, How can we tell the dancer from the dance? - William Butler Yeats, Among School Children.

Tucked away on the Atlantic coast with some of the most beautiful scenery the west of Ireland has to offer , meander through many of the lively and quaint towns and villages Mayo has to offer from Louisburgh on the coast to Westport, Cong and Achill.

En route Croagh Patrick and its poignant Famine Memorial stands majestically overlooking Clew Bay. A climb to the top, well even the first hundred metres for the mor vertically challenged is worth it for the view. As is a pitstop at the Old Head beach a few miles further out.

Head out the sky road beyond Leenane skirting the choppy lakes along the fjord to Delphi and beyond. Immerse yourself in the fairytale castle at Ashford just outside Cong where some of The Quiet Man was filmed sixty years ago and which opened up the rugged beauty of west to Hollywood and the rest of the world.

Head north to Achill and the Ceide Fields, stopping off to stretch your arms, legs and other bits of you at the The Great Western Greenway or gaze down upon the beautiful strand at Keem bay.

For somet toe tapping, finger strumming, head shaking rhythm, take in all the craic at the lively World Fleadh.

You certainly won't be short of luxury by staying at Ashford Castle, Delphi Mountain Resort, the Ice House Hotel & Spa or The Lodge at Ashford
