Kilkenny

Dominated by the imposing Kilkenny Castle and across the road the Design Centre (with their origins in the craft workshops of the swinging sixties), this medieval city with its ecclesiastical roots and on the banks of the Nore is not short of fun filled activities for visitors of all ages. The castle itself in pre NAMA times was sold for the peincely sum of fifty pounds in the mid nineteenth century to a local restoration group.

From the Kilkenny Arts Festival held annually to the Cats Comedy Festival not to mention the hurling, you will be well entertained.

Kilkenny has long associations with the crafts industry, in particular the pottery hamlet of Thomastown home to Nicholas Mosse and many independent potters (not a Harry in sight though)..
